QA: eBay Selling Format: "Best Offer"?

Question by Felix: eBay Selling Format: "Best Offer"?
On eBay there are several selling "formats".
eBay charges money and limits the listing time for most formats which includes:
*auction
* fixed price
*store inventory
*classified ad
And yet....it says you can use the "best offer" selling format for free. And it does not specify a time limit. What is the catch? How does eBay make money on this format? What is the catch? It seems like I can use eBay for free if if I choose to use this format.

The "Best Offer" feature does not mean you can sell on eBay for free. It's just an add-on to "Fixed Price". This works as an alternative to an auction, but allows buyers to negotiate with the seller. You set a price and a buyer may send an offer to you that you can either accept or refuse. You still pay a listing fee exactly as you would for any fixed price listing and you must pay a final value fee if it sells.
