NV3500 standard transmission rebuild how to -part1

0 NV3500 standard transmission rebuild how to part1This video project was started because being unable to find information about how to rebuild an NV3500 transmission online, I got really frustrated and felt like it was the right thing to do, to go through the trouble of doing it with almost no instructions and save a bunch of people a bunch of time by showing what steps to take to make this hard task into a less difficult enterprise… The time invested in one of those rebuilds is proportional to the specialty tools you posess or at your disposition. In short, rent the sliding hammer from auto parts store, and buy or borrow a welder, you will need one for most custom car projects anyway… The rest was just a pair of snap ring pliers and a complete set of ratchets and sockets that you should automatically own if you want to do any kind of serious car work. A couple extensions will be needed for the bolts that are all around the circumference of the transmission as those spaces are TIGHT.

In part2 I will show the gears and shape of them and rings and bearings, show how to get the parts and order them, then install them and put the tranny back together. The process of taking the tranny of the truck and back on is not shown as it is easy and quite uninteresting. Just make sure you do not let the transmission smash you on the way down during removal…hehe
