can you play all wii games with a gc controller? if you can, are there negative effects?

No you can not. Both of those games utilize the Wiimotes pointing feature (so, you have to aim by pointing the wiimote at the screen) ... essentially giving you a "light gun"....therefore you must use the wiimote - you can not use a GC controller.
