Welcome to JT Show where you will discover the latest in online video marketing news and some sneaky marketing secrets to help you get more views, likes, subscribes and sales. I’m JT and let’s get on with the news

Two-time Academy award winner Ron Howard gave his worldwide premiere for his latest film “When You Find Me” on YouTube at midday last Friday. The film had already had its New York premiere at the American Museum of National History last month and Ron said that he was “thrilled that the online community will now have the opportunity to see [When You Find Me].”

I think it is exciting to see just how many changes are occurring with YouTube. It’s looking like it might one day be the place where you go to get all of your video entertainment. This is good for us small guys because it means a potential audience will get bigger and bigger. And now it’s time for the sneaky marketing secret

This week’s sneaky marketing secret is the difference between features and benefits and how you can use this to improve your sales pitch. So do you know what the difference is? The answer is that people buy benefits.

Simply put, a feature is something special about your product or service. It doesn’t necessarily have to be unique but it must be something that helps your customer. Examples of a features on a car would be Remote keyless entry, ABS Brakes or a GPS System A benefit is what this feature does for your customer. For example the benefit of remote keyless entry is that you can unlock your doors at the push of a button. The benefit of ABS brakes is that your car will no longer skid when you slam the brakes and the benefits of a GPS system is that you will no longer get lost.

The unfortunate thing is that a lot of people would focus only on the features when selling this car. They list the endless features that their product or service has without explaining the benefits of them to the customer.

So how can we use this to improve our sales pitch? The answer is by always remembering to include the benefits. The easiest way to include the benefits in your sales pitch is by using the three following simple words: “Which Means That…”

So now instead of just saying “my product has features X, Y and Z” you would say “my product has feature X, which means that it does A… It also has a feature Y which means that it does B” and so on. And now it’s time for the question of the week.
